Sustainability
We believe places like this are borrowed — and it’s our responsibility to tread lightly while we’re here.
At Benallack, we aim to host in a way that respects the land, the seasons, and the wider environment. We’re committed to making good decisions — ones that reduce our impact, support local makers and growers, and help this place thrive for the long term.

Green Tourism Silver Award
Here’s how we try to do that:
Powered by nature
Our electricity comes from 100% renewable sources. Heating and hot water are supported by air-source heat pumps and solar panels, generating the majority of our demand — with the remainder sourced from certified renewable energy. No fossil fuels.
Naturally warm
All firewood comes from the farm at the end of the drive — well-seasoned, sustainable, and sourced just footsteps away.
Reclaimed, restored, reimagined
The cottages and buildings have been sympathetically restored using natural and reclaimed materials as could be. Wherever possible we repair, reuse and restore — giving things a second life rather than replacing them.
Thoughtful toiletries
We use Bramley Products made in Britain from naturally derived, bio-degradable and marine friendly ingredients, free from parabens, silicones, petrochemicals or sulphates. Packaging is 100% recyclable and we reduce single use plastic by using their refill scheme.
Locally rooted
We support local producers and craftspeople wherever we can — from the artisan buns in the kitchen to thetextiles in your cottage. Fewer miles, more meaning.
Pure Cornish spring water
Drawn from deep within the granite beneath the garden, our water is filtered with UV and debris treatment just a stones throw from where you sleep. Clean and free from chemicals.
Efficient by design
We upgrade all appliances to be A-rated or better, with LED lighting throughout to reduce energy use without compromising comfort.
Natural cleaning
We use eco-friendly, biodegradable cleaning products throughout, all naturally scented with essential oils — reducing chemical use and keeping wastewater safe for the land and wildlife.
Less plastic, less waste
We avoid single-use plastics, provide refillable toiletries, and offer composting and full recycling facilities. Green waste from the gardens is also composted on-site — returning goodness to the soil.
Wildlife welcome
The land is managed with biodiversity in mind — we leave areas of the garden wild and other are planted with birds, insects and pollinators in mind. Log piles and native planting all help support a healthy balance of birds, bees and other pollinators, our largest border is designed with bees in mind, nectar rich plants to keep them busy from spring to late autumn. The garden isn’t just beautiful — it’s a habitat.
Sustainability for us isn’t a box to tick — it’s a way of thinking, living, and sharing this place with care. If you’d like to explore how we’re improving, or have ideas to share, we’d love to hear them.
